MinTerm Lite
(freeware)

This is a light-weight terminal-like application suitable for testing serial hardware communications and commands.  Hyperterminal works well for general testing, however it's been discontinued in Windows Vista.  MinTerm can be used as a replacement for Hyperterminal.

System Requirements: 
  - Windows 98SE to Vista32 (not tested on Win95, or WinME, or XP64, Vista64) 
  - 1.2 MB of hard drive space
